Hi! I’m Ray!
My pronouns are they/them
I picked up my first camera in 2019 with a simple intention: to document my grandparents’ backyard and garden—the little pieces of home, history, and beauty. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a deeper passion when I began photographing people. There was something magnetic about capturing someone in a moment—raw, honest, reality. That’s where stories live.
As a born and bred New Englander, storytelling through photographs feels like second nature. The seasons shift, the light changes, and with every face and place, there’s a new narrative to tell. Whether it’s major milestones or fleeting glances, I’m drawn to the authenticity in it all. Through my lens, I strive to represent the full spectrum of identities and romantic connections, honoring each person’s story with care and candor. Photography, for me, is about preserving what’s real while reminding people how beautiful their truth is.
With a focus on capturing authentic moments and celebrating diversity, I aim to create candid visuals that reflect the unique personalities and stories of each client. From engagement shoots to professional headshots, I aspire to deliver professional and inclusive photography services that capture memories to last multiple lifetimes.
Why “Pride in Optics”?
The name “Pride in Optics” breaks down to three fundamental principles.
- Pride: As a nonbinary and queer photographer, I emphasize on inclusivity, authenticity, and the beauty found on love stories and portraiture of those also in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I’m proud to document the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through a gender-neutral, respectful, and artistic lens.
- Craft: The term “optics” represents the importance of not only capturing images but also photographing with a refined understanding of how the subject interacts with the light and with that, the light’s relationship with the lens. Thus, the optics highlight the significance of producing clear, vibrant, and sharp visuals. My work reflects a deep commitment to an emphasized precision, mastery of light, and attention to detail in every moment captured.
- Experience: With a focus on candid moments and true-to-life color, Pride in Optics captures the essence of the human experience, including but not limited to, queer love and identity.
